Probably second only to Auschwitz in terms of sightseeing trips in Krakow, Wieliczka Salt Mines are another must see attraction during your time in the city. The mines are spectacular, and if you take a tour then you’ll walk three kilometres through the underground tunnels reaching a depth of 136 metres below ground. During this tour you will see chambers, salt sculptures, a lake and even a big chapel. It is also the only mining site in the world which was functioning continuously since the Middle Ages.
